Art Announcements! Valhall Arts, Kari Lennartson, FRCC

I’ve had an unusual flurry of art news tidbits coming in- all very worthy.  So, I’m just going to share these sans commentary…

Valhall Arts Lecture/ Discussion April 10

Valhall Arts will host a discussion led by Hollie Kopp, a Front Range
Community College Instructor of Cultural Anthropology, on Saturday
April 10, 2010 at 1:00 pm.  Hollie teaches several sections of
Cultural and Physical Anthropology, and is currently writing the first
“Anthropology of the Islamic World” course to be offered at FRCC.
Hollie spent two years studying hijab, and the U.S. Muslim community.
Her research findings were published in a Spring Edition of the The
Muslim World in 2002.  We will discuss the current exhibition by the
Middle Eastern artist, Nagma Mohammed Omer, and her statements about
the works, the traditions of muslim dress and the various pressures
this causes to women.

Valhall Arts is located in the historic Post Office building, with the
FCMOCA, right off Oak Street Plaza.

Kari Lennartson Studio Sale April 17

Kari says:  “This spring I’ve been in the process or organizing and cleaning out my studio storage.  I have a sizable number of older works (50+), most of which have never been shown in Colorado including selections from my “CAFE/ URBAN” series and “NATURE/ SPIRIT” series that I’m deeply discounting so as to make room for new paintings in the works.  Also, I have a number of paintings and works on paper from graduate school here at CSU that I’m offering at a reduced rate.  Below are just a few of the images included in this sale.  If you’ve been waiting for just the right opportunity to spruce up your home with some artwork, this might be a great chance to acquire an original at a good price!”

Reception Saturday, April 17th, 2010 1-5pm.  4801 N. Inlet Dr., Fort Collins.  (From Taft Hill Rd., take CR-38E west past Horsetooth Reservoir.  Turn right on Inlet).
